Death Investigation

FORENSIC PATHOLOGY SPECIALIST, ASSOCIATE - 20830
The Forensic Pathology Specialist, Associate is a permanent, full-time position with the Department of Forensic Sciences. Positions are located throughout the state. This is technical work in the field of death investigation, assisting a State Medical Examiner in post-mortem examinations and research into the manner and cause of death.

FORENSIC PATHOLOGY SPECIALIST - 20831
The Forensic Pathology Specialist is a permanent, full-time position with the Department of Forensic Sciences. Positions are located throughout the state. This is technical, full performance and standard casework associated with assisting the State Medical Examiner in post-mortem examinations and research into the manner and cause of death.

FORENSIC PATHOLOGISTS’ ASSISTANT, TRAINEE – 20836
The Forensic Pathologists’ Assistant, Trainee is a permanent, full-time position with the Department of Forensic Sciences. Positions are located throughout the state. This is master’s-level trained work assisting licensed Medical Examiners in performing postmortem examinations and determining the cause and manner of death in unlawful, suspicious, and unnatural deaths.

FORENSIC PATHOLOGISTS’ ASSISTANT – 20837
The Forensic Pathologists’ Assistant is a permanent, full-time position with the Department of Forensic Sciences. Positions are located throughout the state. This is technical and full performance casework assisting licensed Medical Examiners in performing postmortem examinations and determining the cause and manner of death in unlawful, suspicious, and unnatural deaths.

FORENSIC PATHOLOGISTS’ ASSISTANT, SENIOR – 20838
The Forensic Pathologists’ Assistant, Senior is a permanent, full-time position with the Department of Forensic Sciences. Positions are located throughout the state. This is highly technical and full performance casework assisting licensed Medical Examiners in performing postmortem examinations and determining the cause and manner of death in unlawful, suspicious, and unnatural deaths. This level is also responsible for training less experienced forensic pathologists’ assistants and serving as a team lead.

Forensic Laboratory

STATE PROFESSIONAL TRAINEE - 11915
The State Professional Trainee (SPT) position is a training job class to prepare individuals in qualifying for Forensic Scientist, Associate. The individual must meet all the minimum requirements for Forensic Scientist, Associate at the end of the training period. The majority of SPT training is conducted at our Birmingham Laboratory in Hoover, AL/Shelby County, AL. At the end of training the permanent job assignment could be located throughout the state.

STATE TECHNICAL TRAINEE - 11916
The State Technical Trainee (STT) is a training job class to prepare individuals in qualifying for Forensic Technician, Associate. The individual must meet all the minimum requirements for Forensic Technician, Associate, at the end of the training period. The majority of STT training is conducted at the employee’s assigned facility. However, some training may be provided at other ADFS facilities throughout the state.

FORENSIC SCIENTIST, ASSOCIATE – 20802
The Forensic Scientist, Associate is a permanent full-time position with the Department of Forensic Sciences. Positions are located throughout the state. This is responsible entry-level professional work in the field of forensic sciences. Employees in this class learn to apply theory and practical applications of chemistry, physics, and biology to forensic investigations in the discipline areas of Drug Chemistry, Forensic Biology, Firearm and Tool Mark, Fire Debris, Research, Toxicology, or Implied Consent.

FORENSIC SCIENTIST – 20804
The Forensic Scientist is a permanent full-time position with the Department of Forensic Sciences. Positions are located throughout the state. Employees are responsible for full performance and casework or directed research in the field of forensic sciences requiring considerable experience in the discipline areas of Drug Chemistry, Forensic Biology, Firearm Tool Mark, Fire Debris, Toxicology, or Implied Consent.

FORENSIC TECHNICIAN, ASSOCIATE – 20805
The Forensic Technician, Associate is a permanent, full-time position with the Department of Forensic Sciences. Positions are located throughout the state. This is technical work assisting in the collection, handling, and processing of forensic evidence in a laboratory setting for examination and analysis by professional scientific forensic staff.

FORENSIC TECHNICIAN – 20806
The Forensic Technician is a permanent, full-time position with the Department of Forensic Sciences. Positions are located throughout the state. This is highly technical work independently collecting, handling, and processing forensic evidence in a laboratory setting for examination and analysis by professional scientific forensic staff.

Accounting

ACCOUNTANT – 10611
The Accountant is a permanent, full-time position used by various agencies throughout the state. This is beginning professional level accounting work in the application of accounting and auditing principles, methods, and procedures in the establishment, analysis, and maintenance of fiscal records.

ACCOUNT CLERK – 10601
The Account Clerk is a permanent, full-time position used by various agencies throughout the state. Employees in this class are responsible for the performance of moderately difficult clerical accounting functions.

Administrative Support Assistant

JOB INFORMATION: The Administrative Support Assistant I and Administrative Support Assistant II are permanent, full-time positions for the Dothan Regional Laboratory. Employees in this class perform a variety of clerical duties. These duties may include processing forensic evidence, filing documents, sorting mail, composing documents, proofreading documents, making copies, maintaining records, or receptionist duties.
